The cool thing about having administrator permissions on this site is that I get to see what pages people came from. It is good because I can see what sites are linking to me and then provide reciprocal links. A lot of the visitors to Secular Earth come directly from Google. One such visitor that occurred yesterday caught my eye. Somewhere in Canada somebody went to www.google.ca and searched on “secular view of the flood”. The HPV (human papilloma virus) vaccine is now beginning to be offered to all grade 8 girls in Ontario public schools and this would of course be with the permission of the parents. HPV is the leading cause of cervical cancer so it stands to reason that this vaccine could prevent most cases of cervical cancer later in life. Although to most readers this would seem like common sense, it is not because the catholic church has gotten involved and when religion is involved common sense takes a back seat. John Tory the leader of the opposition and aspiring Premiere of the province made a statement about his full funding for religious schools proposal that is disturbing to say the least. Don’t get me wrong, I would defend anyone’s right to believe in god or worship as they see fit. While I don’t think it is entirely rational; you can think what you want. However, belief in god does not need to go hand in hand with a ridiculous story like Genesis, Adam and Eve, seven days, a giant boat and a flood.
