In this post Alexander writes about how indoctrinating children with religion is like handing them a loaded gun.
The religious indoctrination of children is an issue that atheists, religious skeptics and many others feel passionately about and with good reason. To an informed outside observer, religious indoctrination is rightly viewed as a vile tool that capitalizes on the underdeveloped cognitive ability of vulnerable children in order to teach them to accept religious doctrines without having to worry about the serious challenge of critical thinking. As a result, the religious willing pervert the future critical thinking skills of these children who will later simply assume the truth of everything they have been indoctrinated with when they become adults. In this way, indoctrination is not true education, which requires critical thinking rather than opposition to it.
